IAA appoints new ATM Operations and Strategy Director

24 April 2012: Mr. Peter Kearney has been appointed Director of Air Traffic Management Operations and Strategy of the IAA effective from 1st June.  Peter is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology and will shortly complete a Masters Degree in Human Factors and Safety in Aeronautics at Cranfield University in the UK. He was an operational Air Traffic Controller at Dublin ACC for nine years.

He has worked in the ATM Operations Directorate for the past three years where he had responsibility for project delivery, cost containment, training, support co-ordination and communications.  He has also acted as Operations Manager at Cork ATC and represented the IAA at ICAO, CANSO, and EUROCONTROL.

He has a Diploma in Training from the National University of Ireland Maynooth and is an expert in Human Factors in Air Traffic and Safety Management. He holds a Helicopter Private Pilot's licence with ratings in R44 and Bell 407 aircraft.  Prior to joining the IAA in 1998, Peter worked as a manager in the Hotel Industry.

Peter succeeds Mr. Donie Mooney who is retiring.
