Irish Airspace Closed 0600 - 1800 Saturday 17th April 2010
The latest forecast from the Volcanic Ash Centre London http://metoffice.com/aviation/vaac/vaacuk_vag.html
shows a deterioration in the ash coverage and risk over Ireland. The ash from the Volcano is now being emitted to a higher level and thus the area of coverage and risk to aircraft has increased. Based on the latest reports the Irish Aviation Authority has closed Irish Airspace to commercial traffic from 0600 to 1800 hours today Saturday 17th April. No commercial passenger flights including North American traffic will operate from any Irish airport during this period. Similar types of restrictions are enforced in Northern and Central Europe as well as the UK.
A further update will be posted on the IAA website at 1600 hours today.
