Irish Airspace operating normally - risk to North Atlantic flights
1430 - 7 May 2010: The volcanic ash cloud continues to be a problem. However, as it is not encroaching on Irish airspace; it is expected that Irish airports will be operating as normal until at least 0700 Saturday 8th May 2010.
The ash cloud is located over the Atlantic and operations from the USA may be impacted or delayed tomorrow morning, (Saturday, 8th May). Further information will be provided in our next update which will be issued at 2030
The cloud currently measures 1,000 miles long and 800 miles wide. See chart
Passengers planning to travel by air over the coming days are advised to regularly check their airlines websites and the IAA website, for updates, in advance of going to the airport.
