Irish Aviation Authority Lodges Planning Application for Dublin Control Tower

12 Aug 2009

Control Tower at Dublin Airport

The Irish Aviation Authority lodged its planning application for a new Control Tower at Dublin Airport with An Bord Pleanála on Friday 7th August 2009. This application is in anticipation of a decision by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) to proceed with its plans to develop a new parallel runway at Dublin Airport for which a new Control Tower will be required. The Authority has sought a ten year permission from An Bord Pleanála but the timing of the construction of the Tower will be linked to the decision by the DAA to proceed with the new parallel runway. No further work will be undertaken on this project by the Authority other than to facilitate the planning application process until the DAA commits itself to firm and fixed dates for proceeding with the construction of the runway.
