Issue of English Language Proficiency (ELP) Licence Endorsements Commenced 17 January 2008

New International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and European Joint Aviation Authority (JAA) standards require all pilots and flight engineers to demonstrate a minimum of ICAO Level 4 (Operational Level) English Language Proficiency (ELP) no later than 5 March 2008. With effect from that date, they must have a licence endorsement certifying their ICAO ELP Level.

Issue of ELP endorsements by the Authority commenced on 17 January 2008 and they should all be issued by 29 February 2008, in order to allow time for arrival by post by the date of implementation of the ICAO ELP standards, i.e. 5 March 2008. Flight Crew with surnames beginning with "X" "Y" and "Z" are currently being processed. Approximately 5 days should be allowed for arrival by post.
