Michael A. Norton appointed as Board Director of Irish Aviation Authority

The Irish Aviation Authority is pleased to announce the appointment by Mr. Leo Varadkar, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport of Michael Norton as a Board Director of the Irish Aviation Authority.

M NortonMichael Norton graduated from UCD with a B.Comm degree after which, he was awarded the first Dr. Dempsey Fellowship by Aer Lingus to train as a Chartered Accountant. He became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1979.

He has held senior executive management positions in the aviation industry in Europe, Middle and Far East, the Caribbean and Africa.

He was a founder and then Chief Financial Officer for a number of years with Dubai based Emirates Airlines

Commenting on the announcement and in welcoming the appointment of Michael Norton, Anne Nolan, Chairman of the Irish Aviation Authority, said "This is another excellent appointment to the Board of the Irish Aviation Authority. Michael Norton's mix of financial and aviation experience will be invaluable in meeting the significant challenges for the Authority arising from the current difficulties in the world economy". Chief Executive Eamonn Brennan also welcomed the appointment and said that Michael Norton's experience of airline operations worldwide will be a tremendous asset to the Board.
