In accordance with EC Regulation 1702/2003, as and from 29th March 2007 an application for a permit to fly for an Irish registered aircraft may not be granted by the Irish Aviation Authority unless the application is accompanied by an EASA approval of the associated Flight Conditions. Applicants may apply to EASA for approval of the flight conditions by completing EASA Form 37 ‘Application for Approval of Flight Conditions for a Permit to Fly' and it's associated EASA Form 18b ‘FLIGHT CONDITIONS FOR PERMIT TO FLY - APPROVAL FORM' and submitting the forms to EASA at flightconditions@easa.europa.eu. An application for the Permit to Fly may be submitted to the Irish Aviation Authority in accordance with Aeronautical Notice A91.

Permits to Fly issued in accordance with these requirements are automatically accepted by other EASA states and do not require validation by those states for over-flight and landing. Applicants may have to comply with other operational rules outside of the scope of the Permit to Fly.

These requirements are not applicable to the validation of Permits to Fly issued for aircraft which are registered outside of the member states of EASA or to aircraft excluded by EC regulation 1592/2002 (eg Annex II aircraft).
